Yoonkee’s latest album is a fresh, electronic journal of dancing electronic sounds!
This masterpiece takes the electronic sounds/machine beat electronic music showcased in his 2019 album “Music Made With Electronic Products” to the next level!
Just as the number of paint colors available increases, or the number of colors in a spray can increases, the succession of electronic sounds emitted from analog synths gives the song a richer expression.
Yoonkee’s natural friendliness and dub mastery, which overflow from every corner of the song no matter what, remain intact, and this masterpiece proudly announces that Yoonkee’s expression has reached the next stage!
This is the latest journal from Yoonkee, who is constantly creating something, like breathing in and out. We hope you will experience this freshness for yourself.
It’s been years since Yoonkee Kim, aka Yoonkee, introduced his talent to Japan with the monumental 2004 album “ASIAN ZOMBIE,” a wildly relaxed home-recorded dub album… And two years since the release of his 2017 album “Entertainment Rambo,” which soothed listeners with its carefree quality… A new album has been released from Seoul, South Korea-based artist Yoonkee Kim, aka Yoonkee!
In stark contrast to the guitar-driven rock sound of his previous album, this album is a collection of Yoonkee’s electronic music, created entirely using “electronic products”—rhythm machines, analog synthesizers, radios, Casiotones, DAW VST synths, and even digital camera startup sounds!
The thick beats of the TR-707, a Roland rhythm machine released in 1987, are complemented by acid synth bass, creating humorous melodies. You can also sense Yoonkee’s “dub feel” as the character of the songs changes as sounds are added and removed.
Though this album was produced entirely by “Electronic Products,” it strangely does not come across as inorganic, with endearing melodies and humorous beats popping out one after another throughout.
The album has no song titles and the artwork is very simple, lending it a strong sense of anonymity.
Whether you’re familiar with Yoonkee or not, if you play this album without any preconceptions, you’re sure to enjoy Yoonkee’s sound, which is full of dizzying ideas and humor.
